Our original intentions were to bring you a list of fun activities to do as family for a spring break staycation in the Fort Leonard Wood region, but, given the urge to social distance and stay home as much as possible, we want to share ideas for awesome family activities to look forward to post-Coronavirus emergency.
We wish good health to you and your family during this time.
Real-Life Candy Land:
While you may not be able to trek through the Gumdrop Forest or make your way to Queen Frostine’s, you can make your own journey through the Uranus Fudge Factory!
Ready to challenge your kids and partner to an arcade challenge or skate-off? The Zone in Rolla is a great place for the whole family to have fun!
Maybe go karts or mini golf are more your speed. If so, Kokomo Joe’s in Rolla is sure to be a blast! Enjoy time outdoors making memories as a family.
If you can’t decide between roller skating and laser tag, The Retroplex in St. Robert is the perfect place for a family outing! If you’re celebrating your soldier’s graduation, their entrance is free if they arrive in uniform.
Urban Air Adventure Park:
Bounce back from this trying time on one of the awesome trampolines at Urban Air Adventure Park! There are many activities from a trampoline park to a rock climbing wall, a warrior course, and more.
In addition to these fun, family-friendly attractions in the region, we also encourage you and your family to get out safely when you're able and take a drive through the region to enjoy the scenery, especially along historic Route 66. There are also many great hiking trails in the region that can provide a fun family adventure. Pack a lunch and plenty of water and enjoy a day exploring around Fort Leonard Wood.
If your family simply enjoys being outside, now is the time to make your summer reservations for things like float trips, kayaking, camping, and boating. There are also plenty of state parks and amazing golf courses in the region that are not to be overlooked.
Staying at home and having to put travel plans on hold can be frustrating, especially for those who have been waiting weeks and months to see their Soldiers graduate from basic training, OSUT, or AIT. We hope all of you are safe and are able to take advantage of all of the virtual festivities that Fort Leonard Wood is holding now to take the place of in-person events. We're thinking of you and can't wait to see you all at the airport soon! Stay safe and healthy!
